NEVER A DULL MOMENT

Over the past few days, my patience has really been tested. Izzy has been super cranky and clingy. He hasn't been eating well and has been very lethargic. I took him to the doctor and he will be getting some blood tests.

So this morning I woke up at 5:30 a.m. I just really needed a mental break. I needed some time to my self.

1. I fixed coffee and made myself a cup.
2. I sat down to read the paper.
3. I hear screaming in the basement.

That's right. Number three on the list occurred at 5:45 this morning. I had an entire fifteen minutes to myself.

Leroy had a panic attack. They are the scariest thing for a parent. After about 10 minutes of Leroy thinking he was going to die, I calmed him down until I could get him to the doctor because he was having such difficulty breathing. The sad part for Leroy was that today was his first lesson for snowboarding and he was unable to go. His sister got to go in his place which I'm sure, just added to his disappointment.

I felt so bad for Leroy. He was crushed. So what does any Mom feeling bad for her kid do? Buy him a new Bionicle, a "Finding Nemo" DVD and a large cherry Icee. Leroy announced to me as we were sitting on the couch cuddling:

Leroy: "Mom, I wish I could have a heart attack every day."
Me: "You mean a panic attack?"
Leroy: "Yeah. I mean a panic attack."
Me: "Why?"
Leroy: "I get new Bionicles, my favorite drink and I get to cuddle with my Mom."

It's all good.

As someone who had numerous panic attacks in the past, I agree with Leroy ---it's like having a heart attack. (although I didn't get bionicles, movies or an icee)
