BIRTHDAY BOY

Christian had a biological crack laden Mom that abandoned him at the hospital, a myriad of relatives that couldn't or wouldn't take care of him and a foster Mom..........all before the ripe old age of 20 months. I often stare into his black/brown eyes and fight back the tears. How could anyone regard him as a throw-away child? This sweet little boy. A boy so full of love, wonderment and promise. A boy who just wants to be loved in return.

Today Christian turns eight. We've had him for a little over six years and a day doesn't go by that I wish him to just stop growing up....just for a moment. I want Christian to stay small enough, long enough for him to have every chance to be loved and cherished a little more. Abandonment issues may come in to play later as he matures and I want Christian to know that although his original parents "couldn't take care of him", he was loved and revered by us and understands what a beautiful spirit he has.

So Happy Birthday Christian. A boy of eight that will soon be a boy of 12, a teenager.........a man.
