HUH?

Having gads of time traveling this week in the car with Izzy has proved difficult. Driving the three older ones to their various Y-camps for Spring Break has put lots of miles on our car and on my patience. Here's how it usually goes......
1. Drive one child to camp, unload everyone from car, sign in child.
2. Drive other two to camp, unload Izzy who has now fallen asleep in to building to sign other two in.
3. Hang out with Izzy at various parks or run errands. Each time, hauling his sleeping ass out of the car .
4. Repeat when I pick up children.

Here is where the interesting conversations come in:

Izzy: "Mom? MOM? Will I get a proseeesus when I'm older?
Me: "A what?"
Izzy: "A PROSEEESUS!"
Me: "A prothesis?"
Izzy: "Yes."
Me: "I hope not. You won't have a limb."
Izzy: "Well if I do, I want it to be a leg."
Me: "Ummm....okay."

Another conversation:

Izzy: (holding a new slinky) "Mom? MOM? I'm never going to share my slinky with anyone."
Me: "That's too bad. I'm sure your siblings would enjoy playing with it. They share stuff with you, you know."
Izzy: "After I die, I'm going to will it to Clint." (his friend)
Me: "You are going to will it?"
Izzy: "Uhh....yeah."

Evidence of true intelligence.

I used to wonder where the hell kids learn the things they say/think, but realized they hear and see it all. Even whispers. Or gestures. Or looks.

Sponges, I tell you!

Isn't it amazing the words they pick up?! My son (2 tomorrow) loves airplanes and somehow learned the word "aircraft." I LOL every time he says it.

True intelligence indeed! Where do kids get these thoughts? On another note, I have an awesome 70's-era Slinky and love it more than any other office toy. Maybe I should think about willing it to someone. Thanks for the idea.
