I welcome my new wire-haired, standard-sized Dachshund. We rescued him from a bad situation.

*Disclaimer: This dog already came with the name Boo Boo. I want to make that clear. There is no way in hell I would ever personally name a dog Boo Boo.

I know what you mean about the re-naming a "used" animal dilemma. Sometimes I've done it, sometimes not. A lot depends, I think, on the embarrassment factor.
If you are too embarrassed to stick your head out the door and let the neighbors hear you calling for his, it is time for a new name.
