Against our children's wishes, and in a desperate attempt to save money.....we did the unthinkable. We rid ourselves of cable.
That means that we don't even have the basics. No three channels including PBS. No news. No Oprah. Nothing.
Instead we have chosen to get the Netflix instant movies. People that are not familiar with the "Roku" box, it is very simple. You basically have a choice of 100 + movies, documentaries or television series shows at the click of a button. This has somewhat appeased the little gremlins in our house. They can still watch "Wizard's of Waverly Place" or "Spongeboob" at their convenience.
But here lies the dilemma for me. I usually only watched t.v. when I was folding laundry or cooking. When I was watching, it was informational shows like the food channel or CNN. I wanted A LOT of information going in to my head. Because anyone who is a stay-at-home parent knows that if you don't keep the brain active, it turns to jello. Quoting "Zack and Cody" at a cocktail party doesn't go over well.
Now that my brain isn't being filled with knowledge, I find myself reading more and doing endless amounts of Sudoku puzzles. I also have become quite the old t.v. series buff (this is where the pathetic loser part comes in).
I am proud to say that I have never watched "American Idol", "24", "The Biggest Loser"or "Dancing with the Stars". Why should I watch those when I have access to this:

So was Jethro Bodine.
And after so many of these old television series.......I feel quite often as if I am in.....
Now that I think about it, Rod Serling was pretty hot too.
