THE $80 DAY

Dinnertime always invites fascinating dinner conversation. Usually we play a game called Table Topics or one of the kids makes up their own probing question for the rest of us.

The other day, Bubby came home excited to share a his puzzle for us. Apparently this is a question that an Engineer at work was asked during an interview.

Bubby told the kids...."Whoever answers this question right gets TWENTY FIVE DOLLARS!"
The kids were excited! A chance at the big bucks.

Then Bubby said, "There are 3 light switches in the room you are in. In another room is 3 light bulbs. You cannot see the other room from where you are. You can only go in to the room with the light bulbs once. Solve which switch goes to which light bulb."

We all sat there we our jaws open. Huh?
Then Bubby started getting glib. "Okay then......if you can solve this puzzle, I will give you FIFTY DOLLARS."

There were screams from the table. Every ones brain started immediately working. Fortunately for Leroy...his brain works on high-functioning overload and he got the answer in less than 5 minutes.

Then Tori started crying....she didn't get long enough to solve the puzzle she claimed. Then Izzy started saying, "That's no fair! I'm only 4 years old." And blah, blah blah.

Bubby felt bad so in addition to the $50 dollars he gave Leroy, he gave each of the kids $10.00.

And that my friends, is how you come up with a $80 day. And yes, Bubby is banned from paying the children for any more riddles.

Do you know how to solve the puzzle?

Oh oh oh. I know the answer! That's actually an old riddle; I first heard it 20 years ago in college. I won't ruin it for the rest of your riddle loving readers.....

I haven't heard it before but I'm going to guess it involves your sense of touch and heating up lightbulb number one.

I'm not even going to bother trying to think. I'm with Izzy, but I'm only 35 years old!
