Any Mom's that have gone through the "IN BETWEEN NAP STAGE"?
Izzy can't live with them and can't live without them.
On a day when Izzy just won't sleep, but requests a "quiet time" in the afternoon. I get him a blanket, his sippy cup filled with juice, a nice book and lock him in the dog kennel.
No need to re-read the last sentence. You read it the first time correctly.....
When I ask Izzy why he wants to go in to the dog kennel and be locked in, he says, "Because I feel safe and loved Mom."
A sick and twisted kind of love no doubt.

Maybe those trainers have a point about the dog cages after all.
Izzy sure knows how to take care of himself! Perhaps many of us would have done the same thing if our mothers wouldn't have been so worried about what the neighbors would think (as if our neighbors were the standard for behavior). You are a wonderful mom!
ROTFLMAO! THAT is some funny business. to be honest I wouldn't mind some time in the dog kennel either, seriously I bet no one would bug me in there, Big J would think it is funny and throw a blanket on top and not let me out and Baby J couldn't fit, how much better can it get?!?! TOTALLY seeing Izzy's point on this one I must say!
BTW- my "safe word" is ohmygzzny".. is that like "oh my God?" LOL I am SO going to start saying that!
Your child cracks me up! And I love that you allow him to be exactly who he is.
Oh, Tallulah, your kids aren't weird at all -- at least for climbing in the dog crates.
I have three neurotypical (MOL) kids -- they all loved the big dog crates. At one point I had four big crates and two dogs. My youngest liked to get in the crate with the dogs -- fortunately I had sweet-tempered dogs.
They were spaceships and forts and monster caves (the kids being the monsters) and retreats.
I had the kind you use for airline shipping -- you know, plastic with grilles on the side and front.
And yes, they'd lock themselves in, once they were old enough to figure out how to unlock them from the inside.
Good for Iz, figuring out how to have some downtime without an actual nap.
