CANNING QUEENS

Yep. That's us. Kiki and I on our next adventure. If you don't remember, we have tried Spotted Dick, made cheese, tamales and raviolis. But I have to tell you....this my friends is da bomb!
CANNING TOMATOES!

First, you start with lovely black gloves that Kiki is modeling......

Next, you gather tomatoes. (We have 55 pounds of organic lovelies here.)

Next, you boil them in water until their skins split......

Throw them in an ice bath and remove their skins..........

Pour in lemon juice.....

Stuff those babies into a hot, sanitized jar......

Run a knife around the tomatoes to get out any air bubbles.....
If you are getting bored now, you aren't alone. Miz Bourbon didn't seem impressed.....Pour in hot water.........Wipe lid and screw on lid........

Put in huge-ass canning pots and boil........
Results? 30 quarts of beautiful tomatoes!

And to celebrate our success, we tried another new thing........

Peach Framboise. It's a Belgian beer and sweet Jesus, it is nectar from the God's!
Apparently, a large number of people out there hate canning. Kiki and I really enjoyed it though and plan on canning anything we can get our hands on. Next week it's peaches. What I love about canning is that is totally and completely brain-dead kind of work. You get in to a rhythm of mindless work and your body and brain go ZEN. It's awesome!

GO GREEN! SHAVE YOUR MUFF AND HELP THE EARTH!

Not only will having a smooth hoo-hoo help your sex life, it can possibly help you grow bigger, tastier vegetables as well. Who knew?

You can imagine my surprise when Bubby ordered "Smart Grow" hair mats for my garden. 120,00 pounds of human hair from India & China are boiled to 120 degrees and then woven in to mats (Smart Grow won't accept American hair because it's too damaged and processed). You then put the hair mats either on the top-soil or planted in the soil . They keep away bugs, weeds, provide excellent drainage and are a terrific supply of nitrogen and other micro nutrients that nourish the roots.

The downside to this is that even though it's a great product (Florida alone used 2 millions mats last year in gardens and farms), and boosts tomato production 48%....Smart Grow is spending big bucks to pay the women of India & China for their hair, then shipping it back to the United States for distribution. This is a dire issue for all of us trying to become localvores. But I have an idea!

If we all shaved our unprocessed and beautiful beaver hairs and sold it to Smart Grow, maybe there might be enough to start keeping hair mats right here the United States of America! Just think how much money Smart grow could save in overseas shipping costs!

Who's willing to help the cause?
